Acceptance

By using the Khatma app or its website khatma-eg.com you agree to these terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app. Khatma is developed and run by Project Egy.

The service

Khatma is a free app for reading, listening to and reciting the Holy Quran, with prayer times, azkar, khatma plans, the «Ghiras» rewards and the «Yalla Nehfaz» kids corner. We may add, change or stop features, and we aim to do so without harming the progress you have kept.

Your account

• An account is optional; most features work without one.
• You are responsible for your details being correct, for keeping your password secret, and for activity on your account.
• You can delete your account at any time in the app or from the Delete account page.

Religious content and its sources

• The Mushaf text comes from trusted, reviewed sources. Tafsir, translations and recitations are credited to their authors, who keep their rights.
• We work to keep everything accurate. If you find a mistake, report it from «Report a problem» in the app or to info@project-eg.com and we will review and fix it.

Recitation check

The check uses an automatic model that analyses the audio of the ayah, and it can be wrong about some words. It helps with memorising and revising and does not replace learning from a qualified teacher. The ayah's audio is sent only for the check, as the Privacy Policy explains.

Prayer times and qibla

Prayer times and the qibla direction are calculated from your location and the calculation method you choose, and may differ by a few minutes from your mosque. Whether the adhan and alerts sound on time also depends on your device settings, such as permissions and battery saving.

«Ghiras»: points, levels and gifts

• Points and levels encourage you to keep going; the reward is with Allah. They have no cash value, cannot be exchanged for money and cannot be transferred.
• Points are calculated on our servers with the values and limits shown in the app. We may change these values and limits or stop the system at any time.
• We cancel points, levels or invitations gained by cheating, such as automated tapping or several accounts or devices for one person.
• Real gifts depend on availability and delivery area, and need a signed-in account and correct contact details. We may replace a gift with one of similar value.

Group khatmas and invitations

Do not put anything offensive, unlawful or contrary to Islamic manners in khatma names, your profile or invitations. We may remove such content and suspend abusive accounts.

The kids corner «Yalla Nehfaz»

The kids corner is meant for use under a parent's supervision. Children's data and profiles stay on the device only and are not sent to our servers. Parents are responsible for keeping the parents' PIN.

Acceptable use

• Do not try to break into the app or its servers, or load them with automated requests.
• Do not use the recitation check or any feature for anything other than its purpose, and do not impersonate others.

Intellectual property

The app's design, logo and code belong to Project Egy. The Holy Quran is the word of Allah and owned by no one; tafsir, translations, recitations and fonts belong to their owners.

Third-party services

The app uses services from other parties, such as recitation file providers and Google and Apple sign-in. Their own terms apply and we are not responsible for them.

Disclaimer

The app is provided "as is", without a guarantee that it will run without interruption or error. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect damages arising from its use.

Changes and governing law

We may update these terms and show the update date at the top of this page; using the app after an update means you accept it. These terms are governed by the laws of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
